ALEXANDRIA, VA (May 13, 2016) PenFed Credit Union donated $25,000 toward the construction of the Americans in Wartime Museum. The site of the museum is located on a 70-acre parcel of land in Prince William County, Virginia, 22 miles south of Washington, D.C.
The Americans in Wartime Museum is a not-for-profit cultural and educational institution dedicated to honoring those who have served in all branches of the United States military and on the home front, from World War I to the present. The Museum will serve to educate the publicespecially younger generations through individual stories that bring to life the personal experiences of those touched by war.
President and CEO of PenFed Credit Union James Schenck said, "It is important to honor and remember the sacrifices made by both those who have worn the uniform and their families."
"It is because of those sacrifices that our nation enjoys freedom and prosperity today," said Schenck.
Americans in Wartime Chairman of the Board of Trustees Allan Cors said, "I am thrilled to accept this donation. I believe it represents the beginning of a wonderful partnership with PenFed."
"PenFeds generous donation will help our Museum honor, preserve and share the inspiring stories of American men and women who served our country in uniform, as well as the stories of those who waited for them at home," said Cors.
