Thinkwise Credit Union Supports Local School District

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (May 10, 2016) Thinkwise Credit Union recently received the San Bernardino County Education Medal of Honor for exemplary service to the San Bernardino County Unified School District and making a lasting contribution to public education. The award was presented April 28, 2016, by San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools Ted Alejandre.
The criteria for the Partners in Education category is to create awareness for education throughout the community, make an impact and lasting contribution, to serve as a positive role model, and provide support for education. This year, 35 nominees in six categories were announced to compete for the 25th annual awards. The San Bernardino, CA-based Thinkwise was nominated by the Superintendent of San Bernardino City Unified School District, Dr. Dale Marsden.
"None of these programs are possible for the students in our community without their ownership, so big thanks are due to our members," said Thinkwise Credit Union CEO Kevin Posey. "Supporting the education community is core to Thinkwise as a community financial institution. This award shows our efforts are helping and appreciated.
"Id like to thank Dr. Marsden for nominating us for this prestigious award," Posey added. "Our Board of Directors are so supportive of our efforts to engage our community schools, and our entire staff are always willing to offer their time and energy to our community events."
Since the start of the 2013 school year, Thinkwise has adopted three elementary schools within SBCUSD, and is looking to increase that total in the near futurepossibly a high school or middle school. The adopted school program is a joint effort between the school district and the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce.
Along with adopting schools, Thinkwise Credit Union has hosted numerous Bite of Reality financial simulations for high school students throughout SBCUSD. Thinkwise staff members have participated in "Principal for a Day" events, several career days, helped raise funds for student scholarships, and various other ventures in order to play their part as both financial and education advocates.
The Education Medal of Honor program is sponsored by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, the County School Boards Association, and the County Communicators Network. School public relations professionals in Riverside County judged this years entries.
