HAMDEN, Conn. (May 6, 2016) Contributions from visitors at Connex Credit Unions Hamden Branch during the first quarter of 2016 have helped make a significant impact for one local community group. As a part of its philanthropic program ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union recently donated more than $500, from the fees collected by Connexs coincashing machine at their Hamden branch, to Silver City Cadet Squadron. The Coins-for-Change program charges a five percent fee to members, a seven percent fee to non-members and donates the fees collected to charitable organizations in the local community, contributing more than $10,000 annually.
"On behalf of Silver City Cadet Squadron we would like to extend our gratitude to Connex Credit Union for allowing us to be a recipient in its Coins-for-Change program," said Angel Vazquez, second lieutenant, Silver City Cadet Squadron.
"These funds will go towards future training missions and supplies for the squadron. It is because of the generous
support of companies like Connex that our squadron continues to carry out its mission."
Silver City Cadet Squadron is a local unit of the Civil Air Patrol non-profit organization that performs homeland security, disaster relief and search and rescue missions. The squadron boasts a long history of volunteer service that pre-dates World War II. They provide the citizens of Central Connecticut with fully qualified and unpaid search and rescue aircrews, airborne photographers and humanitarian aid volunteers.
