Hanscom Federal Credit Union Awards $10,500 in Scholarships to High School Students

Hanscom AFB, Mass. (May 9, 2016) Hanscom FCU proudly awarded $10,500 in scholarships to seven high school students about to begin college. Five credit union members and two students from local Air Force Junior ROTC units were recognized at Hanscom FCUs 62nd Annual Meeting.
The Condon scholarship recipients were Gwen Gardner, Bedford, Mass.; John Connolly, Boston, Mass.; Eleanor Silver, Lexington, Mass.; Rachel Bianculli, Charlton, Mass.; and Caroline Reidy, Brentwood, Tenn.
Named after former board member John F. Condon, a valued leader at Hanscom FCU for 26 years, the scholarships for Hanscom FCU members are awarded based on academic record, extracurricular activities and an essay.
The top graduates of the Lowell High and Bedford High AFJROTC programs, Shayla Moya of Lowell, Mass. and Zachary Somers of Bedford Mass., each received $1,500 scholarships.
"We are eager to support these students as they continue their studies," said Chairman of the Board Paul Marotta. "Education is the single best investment a young person can make for a strong financial future."
Hanscom Federal Credit Union, headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts, serves 65,733 members across the country and overseas through 17 branches, over 100,000 service centers and surcharge-free ATMs, 24-hour telephone service and a web-based branch.
