CapturePHILADELPHIA, PA (May 6, 2016) American Heritage Federal Credit Union partnered with the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia to participate in their Guest Chef Program on Tuesday May 3, 2016. American Heritage employees spent time together to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald Houses Chestnut House in Philadelphia, cooking and preparing home-cooked meals for families residing at the location. They prepared a "Breakfast for Dinner" meal including pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and home fries for over 70 guests. The volunteers enjoyed interacting with the families, giving each family a chance to talk to others and escape reality for a moment. Flora Caranci, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of American Heritage, participated in the event and commented on the event, "The sincere thank yous coming from family members made cooking dinner for the families worth every second of our time. It was great to see everyone enjoying a healthy breakfast during the dinner hour. The families really enjoyed it!" A dad from Kansas, who was there with his 3-year old son said, "This meal is a great break from pasta." He was extremely grateful not only for the delicious dinner, but for the miracle and gift of life that Childrens Hospital Of Philadelphia gave to him and his family. A Ronald McDonald House is a "home-away-from-home" at little-to-no cost for families with a hospitalized child. The Ronald McDonald House creates a community of comfort and hope for these families. Since 1974, the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House has expanded from the first seven bedroom house on Spruce Street to two Houses serving 65 families each night, two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, and a weeklong Ronald McDonald Camp.
