CaptureGREENBELT, MD (May 6, 2016) Educational Systems Federal Credit Union recently wrapped up its "100 Days, 100 Ways to Save" promotion. During this campaign, members of the education community were invited to submit their financial education tips on saving for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card that was awarded weekly and the grand prize of $1,000 to donate to the school of their choice. The grand prize winner, William McGowan, asked that the donation be divided among four schools: St. Leonard Elementary and Calvert Middle School where his children attend; Calvert High School where he teaches social studies; and Calvert Country School where his wife is the school psychologist. Mr. McGowans winning entry suggested that parents teach money management to children by opening an account for them. "Open an account for your child. By having them learn that responsibility, you would be surprised how many things they wont buy themselves that you probably would have bought for them." When Dr. Daniel D. Curry, Superintendent of Calvert County Public Schools, and Chris Conway, President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU, presented the award to Mr.McGowan, he responded by saying, "Thank you so much Educational Systems FCU and Mr. Conway. Its so nice to see the Credit Union living its mission to grow by helping the members of the education community achieve their financial goals and dreams. Byallowing me the privilege of presenting this award at the remarkable Calvert Country School, you have given me the opportunity to express my admiration for all of the amazing things Dr. Curry and Calvert County Public Schools continue to do for all kids through their excellent work!" "Our core purpose is serving the education community," said Chris Conway, President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU. "The 100 Days, 100 Ways to Save promotion was a great way for members of the education community to help each other save and plan for their financial future." The inaugural "100 Days, 100 Ways to Save" campaign was created to celebrate the 100th day of school. During the six week promotion, over 170 helpful tips were submitted through social media, email or given to a Credit Union employee during on-site visits at schools and community college campuses. Each week, submissions were posted on the Credit Unions Facebook page, and the following weekly winners were selected to receive a $100 Visa gift card.
