UW Credit Union Helps Members Improve Credit Scores
May 3, 2016
Madison, WI – May 3, 2016 – UW Credit Union launched CreditView™ on May 3, 2016. This new, free online tool gives all UW Credit Union members access to their credit scores quickly and securely in Web Branch. When members perform everyday banking tasks on the credit union’s website or mobile app, they can easily monitor their credit scores based on a widely used scoring model, receive alerts and learn how to improve their scores.
“We’re committed to promoting the financial well-being of the community, and letting our members access their credit scores for free gives them a powerful tool to understand their overall financial picture,” said Mike Long, EVP & Chief Credit Officer at UW Credit Union. “In fact, we’ve provided members with their credit scores for free since 2010, and this latest enhanced tool offers new features to help members stay on top of their scores.”
Once members sign up for the tool in Web Branch, they can check their credit scores—refreshed daily. Signing up for CreditView™ automatically enrolls members to receive email alerts in real time if changes are made to their credit profiles, such as new inquiries, trade lines or public records. Or, if no changes are made in 30 days, members receive a monthly notification verifying there were no reported changes to their credit files. Members can also use the tool to test financial scenarios, like adding a loan or cancelling their oldest credit card, and track their credit scores over time.
“When a consumer understands their credit score, they can create a game plan to build and maintain good credit and money habits,” said Long. In addition to launching CreditView™, UW Credit Union offers other resources, such as credit consultations and online money management tools, to help members budget, track spending and meet their financial goals.
