Naveo Credit Union Hosts Free Business Finanching Workshop
April 26, 2016
(Somerville, MA) Naveo Credit Union collaborated with Union Square Main Streets (USMS), an organization that works collaboratively to support and advance the economic strength of the Union Square business district, to host a free Business Financing workshop at Workbar on Friday, April 15. The workshop, which featured representatives from Naveo and the US Small Business Administration (SBA), provided local business owners and entrepreneurs with information about starting a business, financing options and resources available to them in a roundtable-type format. The workshop was held at Workbar, a local flexible workspace community that caters to small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Union Square Main Streets Executive Director, Esther Hanig, attended a previous business financing workshop at Naveo and saw an opportunity for members of USMS to benefit from a similar presentation. Many of the members and individuals involved with USMS are small business owners and entrepreneurs looking to learn more about how to start a business and best practices in business financing. The workshop served as a platform for attendees to exchange ideas and insight on how to grow their business and tips for constructing a business plan.
"This workshop provided great information and resources for individuals interested in starting a new business, but also for local businesses wanting to expand or invest to better serve their target markets. Partnering with Naveo on this helpful workshop is exactly the kind of collaborative relationship with our local financial institutions that Union Square Main Streets values," noted Esther Hanig, Executive Director at Union Square Main Streets.
"The workshop became a great forum for discussing steps an aspiring entrepreneur should consider in order to obtain the advice and funding needed to bring a business idea to fruition. We at Naveo are grateful for the attendees and their ideas, and for our partners at the SBA and at Union Square Main Streets. We thrive when our neighbors thrive, and these workshops are one more opportunity for us to partner with local businesses and to add to the economic vitality of Somerville and Cambridge," commented Albert Pinho, Vice President of Lending at Naveo Credit Union.
Naveo plans to offer additional workshops in collaboration with other local organizations in the future.
