The Megan HouseLOWELL Through dozens of social media posts, enthusiastic effort from dedicated supporters and over one thousand clicks of a mouse, The Megan House Foundation, Inc. is the latest winner of Jeanne DArc Credit Unions Give-A-Click campaign. The Megan House Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping establish substance abuse treatment services for women in need in the Merrimack Valley area. The Foundation opened its first residential treatment facility, Megans House, in October 2015, and since then has helped women ages 18-26 learn coping skills, earn diplomas, give back to the community and live healthy lives free from addiction. The Give-A-Click campaign runs every quarter on the Credit Unions Foundation website, WeShareACommonThread.org. During the campaign, community members visit the site to read about worthy non-profit organizations and vote for the one they would like to support. The charity with the most votes is awarded a $1,500 donation from the We Share A Common Thread Foundation. New charities are posted every quarter and people of the community, Jeanne DArc members, employees and the organizations supporters are encouraged to visit WeShareACommonThread.org to help their favorite nonprofits gain a much-needed donation. Megans House is expecting its first resident to graduate at the end of April. This donation will enable the Foundation to accept another young woman in need. "So many people in the community are part of this," said Tim Grover, founder of The Megan House Foundation, Inc. "It is so humbling just to see how everything has progressed," he added. The Megan House Foundation, Inc. was established in honor of Mr. Grovers daughter, Megan, who lost her battle with substance abuse in 2014. "We are honored to support The Megan Houses very important mission and the role it plays in our community through our Give-A-Click program," said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne DArc Credit Union. "Substance abuse is a wide-spread issue in many communities, and The Megan House has made great strides in removing the stigma and providing help to those who are struggling," he added. The Megan House is the first winner of the 2016 Give-A-Click campaign. Jeanne DArc was also honored to feature American Cancer Aid as a nominee. The Credit Union kicked off the contest for the second quarter of 2016 with the organizations Army Spc. Mathew G. Boule Memorial Park Fund, Groundwork Lawrence and Strongwater Farm vying for the next donation.
