PrintJamestown, ND - During each quarter of 2016, First Community Credit Union (FCCU), will hold fundraisers for different worthy organizations. The charities are voted on by employees. Each quarter, FCCU will hold different events and fundraisers to support the charities in their own unique way. The second quarter fundraising organization, as chosen by FCCU staff, is Project Ignite Light, which is an organization that gives thousands of abused children a piece of security and hope. They provide "Bags of Hope" to every reported abused child in Minnesota, North and South Dakota. The bags are free for the child and delivered through local advocacy centers. Each bag is customized for the childs age and gender and includes a blanket, pajamas, undergarments, personal hygiene items, flashlight, book and a water bottle. To support Project Ignite Light, each branch will hold a pajama drive for staff, members and people of the community to donate. FCCU is collecting new two-piece pajamas in sizes newborn through 18 years of age. New fleece tie blankets are also accepted as a donation. They must be 1.5 yards each side and consist of two piece of fabric; one solid and one patterned. For specific instructions, please visit: www.ignitelight.org. The pajama and blanket drive will go through June 28th, 2016. FCCU will also hold casual Fridays and a baby/kid photo contest of their employees childhood photographs to help raise additional funds. Members and employees will be able to vote for categories such as cutest, best smile, most embarrassing, and most changed. The cost to vote is $1/entry. Project Ignite Light is a faith based organization that provides children with important items needed when examined at local Children's Advocacy Centers around the United States for sexual abuse, physical abuse, or neglect. The organization was founded in 2008 by Jamestown native, Pebbles Thompson. They function out of the old Barnes County North School in Rogers, ND. More information can be found at www.ignitelight.org. During its 77 year history, First Community Credit Union has grown to be North Dakotas largest Credit Union with 150 employees and 15 branches whose field of membership covers approximately one third of the state. As a credit union, FCCU is owned by its members. This is different than other financial institutions which are owned by a select group of stockholders. The Credit Union's profits are returned to the members in the form of better services, accounts, and favorable rates on savings and loans.
