Credit Unions Help Raise Funds for CMN Hospitals
April 4, 2016
The Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals were the ultimate winners of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and the Credit Union SacTown Run on Sunday, April 3.
"Were pleased to be celebrating ourfifthanniversary of joining with the Sacramento Running Association in hosting this great event. And were thrilled to say that thanks to credit unions and businesses in California and Nevada, we have raised more than $1.1 million over the past five years to benefit Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals throughout both states," Diana Dykstra, president/CEO of the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, said.
Congressional FCU and U.S. Senate FCU sponsored the annual Cherry Blossom Capitol Hill Competition, a race within the larger Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. House and Senate offices formed teams to compete for the Capitol Hill Cup. The team with the best race time earned the bragging rights and the cup to display in its office. Nearly 800 congressional staffers ran in whats known as the "Runners Rite of Spring."
Credit Union Miracle Day, the title sponsor group of the family of races, presented a $505,000 donation to CMN Hospitals. Of that amount, more than $80,000 was raised by runners, their families and friends. Since credit unions became the title sponsors in 2002, more than $7.5 million has been donated to CMN hospitals nationwide.
"We are so proud to be a part of this fun and healthy collaboration to help the kids at Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals," Credit Union Miracle Day Chair Theresa Mann said. "Our dedicated credit union and business partner sponsors, and hundreds of fundraisers and volunteers, are the reason we have been so successful and had such a positive impact in our communities in these 15 years."
