Holy Rosary Credit Union Celebrates Community Involvement

Rochester, NH � Holy Rosary Credit Union (HRCU) held its 54th Annual Meeting at the Holy Rosary Church Parish Hall in Rochester on March 16th.� The event focused on HRCUs involvement in the community highlighted by the credit unions Spaulding High School branch, participation in the Rochester Relay For Life and annual Christmas Caring Campaign.
Guest speaker, Stephen A. Roy, President & CEO of Tricorp Federal Credit Union, set the tone for the night, focusing on HRCUs active employees, volunteers and members.
"At HRCU, you have a strong vision and mission with staff and volunteers focused on the community, all the while offering any and all banking products or services you may need," said Roy.
Tara Dickey, Community Manager with the American Cancer Society, echoed Roys sentiments regarding the credit unions community involvement.
"Relay For Life is about your community and supporting those who live in it, and HRCU has always been a leader at our event and fundraising," said Dickey.
The HRCU Crusaders, a Relay For Life team comprised of credit union staff, volunteers and members, is active at the Rochester Relay event.� The team won the 2015 Gordy Award, which recognizes a participating team that demonstrates exemplary spirt, teamwork and fundraising associated with the Relay For Life.
2015 signified the 10th anniversary of the student-run HRCU branch which is open to the public and located at the Richard W. Creteau Regional Technology Center at Spaulding High School.
"At Spaulding, we are very proud to be able to offer the Banking and Financial Support Services program," said Sean Peschel, CTE Director.� "It is always impressive to be able to offer a program that is the only one of its kind in the entire state."
In addition, HRCU continues to facilitate annual CU 4 Reality workshops at Spaulding High School and Somersworth High School.� The real-world student finance program was highlighted for winning the National Credit Union Foundations 2015 Herb Wegner Award for Outstanding Program.
HRCU also experienced substantial growth in 2015, ending the year with $224 million in total assets, an 8% increase that outpaced their credit union peers.� For the year, 1,763 new share accounts were opened bringing HRCU to just under 20,000 members strong.
"Over the last ten years we have doubled in asset size and have been able to increase the products and services we offer our members every year," said Brian Hughes, President & CEO of HRCU.� "We have also added 30 new jobs and the financial soundness of the credit union is at an all-time high."
Gerald Bisallon, currently a member of HRCUs Council of Trustees, was honored for 35 years of volunteer service to the credit union.� Assistant Branch Manager, Megan Cote, received the 2015 HRCU Presidents Award, while Assistant Vice President of Financial Services, Kristy Methot was recognized as a CCUA Rising Star.� Bill Shields, Maintenance Supervisor, Debbie Smith, Senior Loan Officer, and Jason Lawrence of Northeast Planning Associates were all recognized as HRCU Difference Makers.
