CaptureRENO It is time for spring cleaning, and while you are at it, why not sort through old papers and electronics to decide what to keep and what to discard? The proper disposal of documents can help protect personal information and prevent identity theft. United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) is partnering with the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) International to host a shredding event at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) on Saturday, April 2, 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Members of the public may drop off paper products in the UNR north parking lot on Comstock Drive, near the intersection of Virginia and McCarran, and the items will be shredded on site by Iron Mountain, Inc. Iron Mountain is the largest provider of shredded recycled paper in North America and is AAA certified by the National Association for Information Destruction. Heres how the paper shredding process works:
  • You do not have to remove staples, paper clips, binder clips or manila folders
  • Please remove all paper from binders
  • Items that cannot be shredded include binders, cardboard, plastics, hard drives, computer discs and floppy disks
  • There is a six box limit per person.
In addition to paper shredding, Lifecycle Solutions will be also be on hand to collect unwanted electronic items for recycling. Electronic goods will be accepted free of charge, with the exception of two items: TVs ($25) and CRT ($10). Donations to benefit STEP2 also will be collected during the event. STEP2 is a program that provides resources to women who are struggling to overcome substance abuse disorders, poverty and family violence. ____________ About UFCU United Federal Credit Union has served its Members since 1949 by helping them to build a sound financial future.
