Credit Unions Support CMN Hospitals

ONTARIO, CA (March 25, 2016) Credit Union Miracle Day, the title sponsor group of a family of races, will be presenting a $505,000 donation to its charity of choice, Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) on April 3, the date of two popular races on the east and west coasts the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and the Credit Union SacTown Run. Of that amount, over $77,000 has been raised, so far, from runners, their families and friends. Since credit unions became the title sponsors in 2002, over $7.5 million has been donated to CMNHs nationwide.

Over 200 Members of Congress have signed on to be honorary race chairs of the events representing 45 states, American Samoa, D.C. and Guam.

Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run

The 44th running of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run will take place Sunday, April 3, starting at 7:30 a.m. on the Washington Monument Grounds, Washington, D.C. The race course is a fast, flat route around the iconic memorials in the nations capital. The race is on the "bucket list" of things to do in Washington, D.C. according to the Washingtonian Magazine.

The check will be presented at a kick-off press conference at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, in Room HVC 201 in the Capitol Visitor Center. A patient family will be on hand to receive the check, along with representatives from Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals.

Childrens National Health System, a CMNH affiliate, will be hosting a tour for credit union officials of the hospital on Friday, April 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Congressional FCU and U.S. Senate FCU sponsor the annual Cherry Blossom Capitol Hill Competition, the race within the larger Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. House and Senate offices form teams to compete for the Capitol Hill Cup. The team with the best race time wins the cup to display in its office. Nearly 800 congressional staffers are running in whats known as the "Runners Rite of Spring".

Credit Union SacTown Run

The 6th Annual Credit Union SacTown Run will take place Sunday, April 3, starting at 7:00 a.m. at the State Capitol in Sacramento, California. More than 1,500 participants are expected at the event which features a 10-mile race, the UC Davis Childrens Hospital Miracle Mile fun run and fitness walk, and a 5K race (new this year).

The 2016 Runhosted by the Sacramento Racing Associationserves as the Pacific Association 10-Mile Championship.

The check will be presented at the press conference on Friday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the UC Davis Childrens Hospital in Sacramento, followed by a CMN Kids Medal Ceremony at 10:35 a.m., and tour of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at 10:45 a.m.

Credit Union Miracle Day

Since becoming the title sponsors of races in 2002, Credit Union Miracle Day, a collaboration of over 100 credit unions and business partners and CUSOs, has donated over $7.5 million to Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals across the country, under the umbrella of Credit Unions for Kids. Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals is an alliance of premier childrens hospitals which treat 10 million critically ill children annually, regardless of their ability to pay.

Credit Union Miracle Days Family of Races also includes a Freedom Run at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait on April 3, sponsored by the Defense Credit Union Council, and at Wiesbaden Army Garrison in Germany on April 16, sponsored by Andrews FCU.
