Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation Awarding $30,000 to Local Non-Profits

Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Affinity Federal Credit Union, is pleased to announce that its Grants Committee approved over $30,000 in support of the following local non for-profit organizations:
- $2,500 to Ability2Work in Flemington, New Jersey. This unique business provides appropriate job training to disabled teens and adults. It utilizes a combination of job training, advocacy, therapeutic care and supportive services to prepare the differently able for independence.
- $5,000 to Central Jersey Housing Resource Center in Raritan, N.J. The organization provides extensive financial counseling to prepare residents of Central New Jersey for home ownership and to help keep them in their homes post-purchase.
- $5,000 to HomeSharing Network in Bridgewater, N.J, which partners homeowners with home hunters in Somerset, Middlesex, Hunterdon, Morris, Union and Essex counties. The organizations approach enables homeowners to stay in their homes, while providing affordable rental options to those who need them.
- $5,000 to Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains, N.J. The funding will support the nutrition education programs, entitled Community Garden, and allow the non-profit to purchase fresh foods not typically donated to food banks, such as milk and other perishable items.
- $5,000 to the New Bridge Jobs Plus Program in Parsippany, NJ, which helps high school dropouts obtain GEDs so that they may gain employment and/or enroll in college.
- $3,000 to Somerset Home for Temporarily Displaced Children, which is one of Affinitys original community partners. The grant will support the Pathways Independent Living Program for teens and young adults who were previously homeless.
- $5,000 to the Somerset County YMCA in order to provide financial assistance for economically-disadvantaged individuals and families who could not otherwise support the cost of Y child care, summer camp, membership or programs.
