CaptureGreat Lakes Credit Union Donates $39,000 to Local Communities Bannockburn (IL) Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) takes pride in its many philanthropic initiatives to help build up the communities in which its members live. This year GLCUs Board of Directors has adopted an extraordinary plan to give back. GLCU is proud to announce it is donating $39,000 in support of 13 organizations located within the communities of their branches throughout Lake, McHenry, Cook, DuPage, and Will counties in Illinois. The Branch Managers of each location were asked to help the Board Members choose a local charity to donate $3,000 on behalf of GLCU. On February 8, 2016, Stephen Park, GLCU Board Member, and Erica Carrillo, GLCU Gurnee Branch Manager, presented a $3,000 check to Kristina Kovarik, Gurnee Mayor, Jeremy Gaughan, Police Sgt., and Kevin M. Woodside, Chief of Police. The Gurnee Explorer Program is designed to develop leadership skills, respect for police officers & explorers, and real-world career skills for young adults, ages 15 to 20. Other organizations benefitting from this initiative include: Open Arms Mission in Antioch, United Way of Will County in Bolingbrook, ASCEND in Waukegan, Fat Cat Rescue, Inc. in North Chicago, Ronald McDonald House in Oak Lawn, McHenry County Community Foundation in Crystal Lake, Operation Support Our Troops in Naperville, Helping Paws Animal Shelter in Woodstock, Good Shepherd Center in Hazel Crest, Village of Willow Springs Veterans and Family Relief Fund in Willow Springs, Coalition for Healthy Communities in Zion, and B.E.S.T in Round Lake Beach.
