CapturePORTSMOUTH, NH Service Credit Union President/CEO Gordon Simmons recently presented a donation to Veterans Count on behalf of the credit union members who have the Veterans Program Affinity Credit Card. Veterans Count Seacoast Chairman Greg Whalen accepted the check for the organization.
As part of Service Credit Unions Veterans Program, 2 percent of the interest paid on the Affinity Credit Card is donated to the Veterans Count organization. Veterans Count provides financial assistance and services when no other resource is available to veterans, service members and their families. This organization focuses on ensuring their dignity, health and overall well-being.
"As part of Service Credit Unions focus of supporting military and veterans, a continuing charitable donation to Veterans Count was a natural fit," Simmons said. "We are proud that our members have supported this worthwhile organization."
Service Credit Union has a long history of helping the military and veterans since it first started on Pease Air Force Base in 1957. The credit union has donated gift cards to military families in New Hampshire and overseas for many years, partnered with the USO to bring Thanksgiving dinners to the soldiers and their families throughout Germany, and is a major sponsor of many events on military bases where it has branches.
All former military veterans and Department of Defense civilian employees, regardless of their length of government service, and their families are now eligible for Service Credit Unions Veterans Program. Besides the Affinity Credit Card, Veterans Program members receive price benefits on loans and deposits.
With more than $2.7 billion in assets, Service Credit Union has 34 branches in New Hampshire, one in Massachusetts, one branch in North Dakota, 15 branches on U.S. military bases in Germany and a virtual branch.
