downloadRapid City, SD - Black Hills Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the selection of Tenise Chapman and Alexis Timmons as recipients of the first Duane Ellingson "Passion for Service" Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship gives BHFCU employees the opportunity to attend a national credit union-related conference of their choosing. To be selected, applicants must demonstrate leadership, a passion for learning and dedication to the credit union movement. BHFCU established the scholarship in 2015 in remembrance of former President and CEO Duane Ellingson, who passed away in April 2015. Ellingson was a dynamic leader, who is credited with turning BHFCU into one of the most successful credit unions in the upper Midwest, said Roger Heacock, current president and CEO of BHFCU. "Duane was a visionary thinker and innovative strategist who deeply cared for staff and members," Heacock said. "Tenise and Alexis have a passion for service that aligns with Duanes legacy and BHFCUs mission." This year, Chapman, loans and member services assistant, will represent BHFCU at the CU Water Cooler Symposium, and Timmons, a personal finance associate at BHFCUs Pierre Member Service Center, will attend Americas Credit Union Conference. Both Chapman and Timmons said they are excited for the opportunity to represent BHFCU and look forward to sharing what they learn with their co-workers to better serve the credit unions members. Established in Rapid City in 1941, Black Hills Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative serving more than 62,000 members. The community-chartered credit union has Member Service Centers in Rapid City, Custer, Eagle Butte, Hot Springs, Pierre, Spearfish and Wall, South Dakota.
