th anniversary throughout the year of 2016. The Credit Union would like to thank the loyal members who made it possible to reach this milestone.
Michigan Community Credit Union would like to give back to loyal members who contributed to their 80 years of success. The celebration began in January, and will continue on throughout the year with Prize Patrol Days. Prize Patrol Days will happen once a month throughout 2016, and will take place at alternating branches. During these Prize Patrol Days, 80 scratch-off tickets will be given out to members; 71 of the tickets will win a limited edition 80
th anniversary mug, eight of the tickets will win a $50 VISA Gift Card, and one lucky member will win $500. Prize Patrol Days are not scheduled, so members are encouraged to visit Michigan Community Credit Unions Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages for more details.
The Credit Union began in 1936 as Jackson County Teachers Credit Union, serving the City of Jackson public school teachers. The Credit Union merged with Hillsdale County Teachers Credit Union in 1979, and expanded membership services to include educators and employees of educational institutions in both Jackson and Hillsdale counties. The name of the Credit Union transformed again in 1985 to Educators and Employees Credit Union. In 2003, EECU applied for and received a membership expansion to a Community Charter and three-county Field of Membership including Jackson, Hillsdale and Lenawee Counties. The name was changed in early 2004 to EECU - A Community Credit Union to reflect this charter change. In 2009, EECU merged with Cascades Community Credit Union, which expanded the Credit Union's Field of Membership to include serving anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Eaton, Hillsdale, Ingham, Ionia, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, Oakland, St. Joseph, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties, Michigan. In 2013, the Credit Union adopted the new name of Michigan Community Credit Union. This decision emerged as a result of extensive research and evaluation in the Credit Union's marketplace under the leadership of the Board of Directors and employees. Because of the Credit Union's strength and the state of the financial competition in the region, it was an ideal time to position the Credit Union for future growth and provide the ability to serve more families, friends and neighbors in local communities who need a quality financial institution.

th anniversary dinner. "Thirty years ago, I was privileged to attend a dinner to honor former board members at our 50th year anniversary, when we were known as Educators and Employees Credit Union. It was very interesting to hear them describe the early days when the Board Chair and Directors would walk the halls of Jackson High School and collect money in a shoe box so that someone could buy a car! Receipts were written on a 3x5 card and the interest rate paid on the savings, as well as the loan rate, were better than that of other financial institutions. In many cases, the member did not even qualify for a loan from a standard financial institution. The joke was, that if you qualified for a loan, you didnt need one! Today we are a community credit union with $147 million in assets, and we serve our members with multiple platforms.
