Family first FCU Supports Local Food Bank
February 16, 2016
GREAT FALLS, MT Credit unions are committed to giving back to the communities they serve, and Family First Federal Credit Union is doing its best to make sure its 2,000 plus members can join in the fun.
"Its not just about the money, its also about fostering a connection between our members and those in our community who could use a hand up," said Manager Kathy Briggs.
The credit union closed out 2015 with a seasonal promotion that benefitted members and netted 131 pounds of assorted food items for the Great Falls Community Food Bank. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Family First provided a discount of up to 1 percent on the rate for a Holiday Loan in exchange for food items.
"We combined a desire to serve our community while filling the borrowing needs of our members, and response from our members was outstanding," said Briggs. In fact, she noted, the food donated included many items dropped off at the credit union without a loan request.
Plans are underway for this year as well. Giving back will be a highlight of the credit unions annual membership meeting on April 8, when Family First members will play a game to help distribute up to $690 among four area charities.
Family First Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that has served the Great Falls area since 1956. Employees of Benifis Healthcare and the Great Falls Clinic along with all residents of Cascade, Chouteau, Judith Basin, Pondera, and Teton counties in Montana are eligible to join Family First FCU.
