Virginia Beach, VA � Chartway Federal Credit Union and its divisions of HeritageWest and SouthWest Community, is excited to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2016 Directors Memorial Scholarship program. The credit union and its divisions will award seven student members with $3,000 scholarships, totaling $21,000 in academic aid.
The credit unions program annually awards scholarships to deserving student members pursuing graduate or undergraduate degrees, or those returning to complete their degrees at a college or graduate school. Recipients are selected on the basis of need, activities, academic performance, an essay, and letter of reference. The Directors Memorial Scholarship program was created in 1989 by its board members to promote and support educational advancement within the credit unions membership.� Since its inception, the organization has awarded $217,000 in student scholarships to its members.
