January 26, 2016
Jamestown, ND - The fourth quarter fundraiser has come to an end and with First Community Credit Unions help,Sanford Children's Hospital will receive an impressive $9,000. Including a50% match from COOP Financial Services of $3,000, FCCU will present thecheck to Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), a network of hospitals that have been helping kids in need for over 30 years.
Funds were raised through various means including selling chocolate bars, casual Fridays for charity, and Shop for Miracles, where FCCU donated 25 cents every time members used their debit card on International Credit Union Day.
North Dakotas local CMN Hospital is Sanford Childrens Hospital in Fargo. In 2015, the hospital cared for over 80,000 children from all over the state of North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. Money raised for CMNH at Sanford Childrens help fund lifesaving medical equipment, special programs unique to sick and injured children, research and education. Bismarck also has a local clinic, which benefits from the funds.
On October 15, 2015, FCCU staff in Bismarck served lunch to 35 people at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, while FCCU Fargo staff and the FCCU Marketing department served 80 people at the Sanford Childrens Hospital in Fargo. PeeWee Penguin also made a surprise appearance to help put smiles on kids faces.
"While serving lunch at the hospital I had the chance to visit with a mother who had a premature baby in the NICU," said Janna Bergstedt, FCCU Marketing Manager. "She happened to be from Jamestown and after a brief conversation about her baby that was born at just 23 weeks, she told me how grateful she was for the meal and for the time we spent at the hospital. Sarah went on to say how the small gesture really means a lot as she had already been in the hospital for a few weeks and her little boy would have to be there for several more months. With FCCUs fourth quarter charity, Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals, were helping people like Sarah in Jamestown and families all around the state. It was such a wonderful opportunity to carry out the theme of People Helping People that day and every day at First Community Credit Union."
