Pasadena, TX Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union has a unique way of giving back to the community throughout the year.
Employees at the credit union opted to join the community giving program which allows them to pay to wear jeans on selected days. Funds collected from these appointed jean days were collected and distributed amongst several local charity programs.
In 2015, GCEFCU gave back to the community in a big way. The credit union was able to make the following donations:
- $750 to the�American Heart Association
- $150 to the Texas Credit Union Foundation
- $500 to the UHCL CADD for Autism Awareness
- $1,000�to the Houston Food Bank
- $500 to the Galveston County Food Bank
- $500 to the Childrens Miracle Network
- $1,000 to the Pasadena ISD�Komen Team
- $2,308.40 to the�Pasadena Police Toy Drive
- $1,000 to the�Pearland ISD Toy Drive
- $1,000 to the League City Police Toy Drive
This makes the 2015 grand total $8,708.40 donated by the credit unions employees.� When asked about why the employees participate in the program, Gulf Coast Educators Team member Jeannette Jimenez said, "I think its a great and creative way to give back. To me, its surprising how $4 from each paycheck per employee can go a long way to benefit those in need."
