Community First Credit Union's Christmas Spirit Helps Others
January 7, 2016
Back in December the plastics team at Community First Credit Union (Appleton/Fox Cities, Wis.) got in the Christmas spirit and in doing so found a way to help others!
When they saw that PSCU was sponsoring a Credit Union Ugly Sweater contest, plastic team (think credit and debit cards) members collaborated their creative genius and social media skills.
The subsequent photo submitted by Mindi Dunaway, Mara Snedeker, Michalle Salter, Kayla Coffey, Lucy Tamayo and Dayna Hoertsch received the most votes. For their efforts, they were rewarded with a $100 donation to the charity of their choosing Harbor House Domestic Abuse Services.
A trip to the Dollar Store for some assorted holiday decorations (like bows, bells, ornaments, cotton balls and plastic birds) helped provide the gaudiness. Then, a couple glue guns and a few staples were used to affix them to the sweaters and fun props headbands, sunglasses and scarves completed the look.
"Were a competitive group and also like to have fun," said team leader Dunaway, CFCU Assistant Vice President."After reading the prize was $100 toward a charity of our choice, there was no way we were going to let the opportunity pass us by."
Coffey came in on her day off along with her dog, Finn, dressed in a Santa outfit, to enhance the appeal for voters.
"The main theme of the contest was to promote the credit union spirit of giving back during the holiday season," said Duane Hogg of PSCU.
