Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union Donates 400 toys to Local Children
January 6, 2016
LOWELL - Jeanne DArc Credit Union employees and members combined their kindness and giving spirit to donate over 400 toys to Toys for Local Children. Toys for Local Children (TLC) is a volunteer-based charity dedicated to making holiday wishes come true for less fortunate families in Massachusetts.
Baby dolls, action figures, stuffed animals, toy trucks and even bicycles filled donation boxes at each of the Jeanne DArc braches in Lowell, Dracut, Chelmsford, Westford, Tyngsboro and Methuen, as well as the corporate headquarters in Lowell and the Mortgage Center in North Reading.
"We understand the holidays can be a difficult time for some families within our community and surrounding areas," said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne DArc Credit Union. "Toys for Local Children is a great organization, and we are happy to join them on their mission to bring happiness to so many children and their families this holiday season," he added.
For the past ten years, TLC has been collecting toys through generous contributions and donating them to struggling families, shelters and fire victims in the Middlesex and Essex counties.
"If we can take that little burden off them, it makes such a huge difference for them," said Cindy Hickey, Executive Director of Toys for Local Children.
In addition to Jeanne DArc Credit Union, there were approximately 50 other drop-off locations, including Dracut, Chelmsford, Tewksbury and North Andover Fire Departments.
The donated toys were gathered at the Jeanne DArc Credit Union headquarters where volunteers from Toys for Local Children picked up the gifts. They will deliver them to the distribution center in Somerville until they are given to the families.
