Hopewell Federal Credit Union Donates Blankets and Totes to Local Charities

Jim & Rod Cook_Red Cross DonationHEATH / NEWARK, OH Hopewell Federal Credit Union (HFCU) shared holiday cheer with donations to the American Red Cross of East & South Central Ohio and the Food Pantry Network of Licking County.� Donations included forty-nine plush blankets and 100 mesh totes to be used by the disaster relief team at the American Red Cross and 400 grocery totes to the Food Pantry. Each Friday, Hopewell Federal Credit Union staff members are invited to donate a dollar in exchange for the opportunity to dress in casual attire.� The funds collected throughout the year are then used to purchase items for donation.� The HFCU team was thrilled that their collective donations went toward such a worthwhile cause. About American Red Cross of East & South Central Ohio (Courtesy of http://www.redcross.org/local/oh/newark):� The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.� Each Friday all members of the Hopewell Federal staff wore red t-shirts highlighting notable statistics about this organization including:
  • Every 60 seconds 250 people are assisted by the American Red Cross
  • 3000,000 times a day a child receives a measles vaccination from the Red Cross and our partners
  • 200 times a day Red Cross volunteers help a family affected by a house fire or disaster
  • 32,000 times a day a person receives lifesaving Red Cross health, safety & preparedness training
  • 380 times a day Red Cross connects Armed Forces members with their families
About Food Pantry Network of Licking County (Courtesy of http://www.foodpantrynetwork.net/): The Food Pantry Network of Licking County is a cooperative that was established in 1981 to coordinate the acquisition and distribution of emergency food supplies by working through its member food agencies. The largest support comes from the local community in the form of cash contributions and food drives. The Network receives funds from the Federal Emergency Management Association and C.R.O.P Walk, and it is also associated with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank in Columbus. There are 32 member pantries and social service agencies who distribute food or provide on-site feeding programs for the needy. The vast majority who work to distribute food are volunteers.
