east river donationMadison, SD - The staff at East River FCU donates funds from their paychecks so they can wear jeans on Fridays during the year. At the end of the year, they decide as a group where those accumulated funds should be donated. This year, staff members chose to split the funds with $380 given to the local Special Olympics group and $380 given to the local Relay for Life fund. "Both of these organizations have special meaning to our credit union. We have staff members whose children are involved with Special Olympics and cancer has impacted all of our staff in some way, especially this past year", said East River FCU President, Mechelle Johnson. The remaining funds are donated to CULAC (Credit Union Legislative Action Council) which advocates the credit union movement to local and federal lawmakers.
