Staff from various Southern Nevada credit unions recently volunteered at the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village, a Las Vegas, NV-based not-for-profit organization serving children and adults in the southern Nevada community with intellectual disabilities.
Some 90 credit union employees from Boulder Dam Credit Union, Clark County Credit Union, Silver State Schools Credit Union, WestStar Credit Union, America First Credit Union, and Mountain America Credit Union as well as CU Direct Lending and Enterprise were involved in the event. This is the second year the Southern Nevada Chapter of the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues has held a credit union night at the event.
The volunteers did various jobs around the eventpopularly known as a winter wonderland featuring a forest filled with hundreds of dazzling trees, holiday activities and rides, entertainment, and food. Credit union staff, family, and friends sold and scanned tickets, worked at the different attractions, helped man the information booth, and served as greeters.
"Its wonderful to have our local credit unions support this long-standing organization that contributes so much to the community," said Southern Nevada Chapter President Janeen Hodgson, branch manager with Silver State Schools Credit Union in Las Vegas, NV.
"Although many of our individual credit unions have volunteered in the past, we liked the idea that we can show the community that credit unions support each other and stand united with our community involvement efforts," said Southern Nevada Chapter Treasurer Christie Jordan, chief financial officer with Clark County Credit Union in Las Vegas, NV.
