Black Hills FCU Employees Play Donkey Basketball for Fundraiser
December 9, 2015
Wall, SD - Black Hills Federal Credit Union employees took to the hardwood floor Saturday, December 5, in their first ever Donkey Basketball tournament appearance.
BHFCU ended up placing third in the single elimination tournament, in an amazing show of athleticism, encouraged cheating, and some very stubborn donkeys.
"There was one donkey that nobody seemed to be able to ride and of course thats the one that I got stuck with," said Wendy Allison, BHFCU team captain. "But getting dumped is part of the fun, for those playing and the crowd."
The event raised money for the Wall High School Senior Parents Post-Prom Committee and featured six teams from the Wall area. Teams played four-on-four while attempting to ride donkeys up and down the Wall High School Gyms basketball court.
After winning their first game against the Wall Drug Store, BHFCU entered semi-final round action against the Wall High School Junior Class. Donkey antics and missed shot opportunities were the final blows for the BHFCU team as they fell to the Junior Class.
The Junior Class went on to defeat the Wall High School Senior Class in a hard fought championship matchup.
Slightly bruised, but no worse for the wear, the BHFCU employees team came away from the tournament all smiles and with a new found respect for the athleticism and stubbornness of donkeys.
The event raised over $1,000 for the Wall High School Senior Parents Post-Prom Committee.
