The funds were raised through Connexs "Coins-for-Change". GUILFORD, Conn. The spare change we receive on a daily basis is often neglected. Connex Credit Union has developed a way to utilize these coins to make a difference for local charitable organizations. As a part of its community-giving program ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union recently donated nearly $750, from the fees collected by Connexs coin-cashing machine at their Guilford branch, to Community Dining Room. Connexs "Coins-for-Change" program charges a five percent fee to members, a seven percent fee to non-members and donates the fees collected to charitable organizations in the local community. "We would like to thank Connex Credit Union for their very generous donation, and for sponsoring an excellent program that helps to raise funds for families who struggle financially and are hungry," said Patricia Kral, executive director, Community Dining Room. "Community Dining Room provides over 1,000 meals every week, and this donation will be used to assure all our shoreline neighbors have access to enough food every day.Thank you Connex for helping us help others." Community Dining Room, founded in 1985, is a non-profit organization devoted to providing food, support and companionship to those in need. Each month they serve more than 4,500 meals, in addition to providing nutritional programs and health screenings. Community Dining Room partners with local businesses and groups to identify all available resources to assist their patrons.
