AUSTIN, Texas United Heritage Credit Union is currently holding a toy drive to benefit the Austin Police Operation Blue Santa program. The mission of Austin Police Operation Blue Santa is to provide toys and food for families in need during the holiday season. Blue Santa achieves this goal with the goodwill and support of Austin residents, businesses and civic groups. Members of the community are encouraged to join UHCUs toy drive by bringing new, unwrapped toys to any full-service United Heritage Credit Union
branch location from now through Friday, December 11.
United Heritage employees are also participating in the Blue Santa drive by collecting and donating toys. The collective donations from employees and those brought to UHCU branches will be given to Austin Police Operation Blue Santa, which services over 5,000 families. Each year the program provides every family it serves with a full holiday meal, complete with turkey/chicken and all the trimmings, and wrapped Christmas gifts for each child up to age 14.
Blue Santa has provided guidelines for toy donations:
- Toys must be new and unwrapped
- Toys will be given to children ages newborn to 14 years old
- Toys for Tots prefers not to accept realistic looking weapons and/or gifts with food
