fccu food drive2Jamestown, ND - First Community Credit Union (FCCU) recently held food drives and fundraised for local food shelters and back pack programs. All 15 branches collectively raised 8,600items andalso raised cash totaling $2,100. Items ranged from spaghetti Os to fruit cups and granola bars and juice boxes - all easy to use items for children who may not otherwise get a meal over the weekend while away from school. The items and funds collected were donated to the following local agencies: Community Action in Jamestown, Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City, Community Action in Bismarck, Kidder County Food Pantry in Steele, Great Plains Food Bank in Fargo, Logan County Food Pantry, Wishek Food Pantry, Oakes Food Pantry, Sargent County Food Pantry, and the Richland County Food Pantry. All of FCCUs 15 branches collected proceeds from casual Fridays and member donations, which were split among the organizations. In addition, FCCU wanted to have some fun, while supporting a good cause. Each branch had specificgoalsand if met, their branch manager was duck taped to a wall. If we met our overall goal of 4,000 items, themarketing department would also be duck taped. We ended up doubling our initial goal, and the marketing department was in fact, duck taped. "The children and families who will be fed, as a result of staff and community contributions, is truly amazing," said Janna Bergstedt, Marketing Manager. "We are proud to show our support to this worthy cause and a sincere thank you goes out to everyone who supported this."
