Credit union day 2015Enfield, CT - The Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union (TVTFCU) in Enfield recently celebrated International Credit Union Day. Credit union members around the world celebrate this event to commemorate the credit union movements impact and achievements. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 217 million members in 105 countries worldwide. Any profit made by a credit union is returned to its members through higher savings rates and lower loan rates. TVTFCU celebrated by providing refreshments, give-a-ways and prizes. A Liberty Mutual Insurance representative was on hand to provide information regarding member discounts on insurance plans. The credit union also offered "TVTFCU Days at Costco" where TVTFCU members could visit Costco in Enfield even if they did not have a Costco membership. "We enjoy celebrating Credit Union Day with our members. This is a day to show appreciation for our members as well as remember all the benefits the credit union movement has provided to individuals world-wide. It is also a day to recognize the hard work of our staff and volunteer board members," said Nina Chrisanthopoulos, Marketing Manager for the Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union.
