Georgia United Credit Union Awards $9,000 Grant to Local School

Peachtree Elementary 10.15.15Norcross, GA - Gwinnett County Schools Peachtree Elementary welcomed some special visitors this morning, who delivered a $9,000 Runner-Up media center grant and a box of student supplies as part of Georgia United Credit Unions School Crashers program. Thanks to Media Specialist Mary Tyner for writing a heart-felt nomination to enter Peachtree Elementary in Georgia Uniteds 2nd annual School Crashers makeover program earlier this spring.� Peachtree School is located at 5995 Crooked Creek Road in Norcross, has 1,650 students, and was one of five runner-up grant recipient school selected from hundreds of entries. �The school plans on using the grant to purchase technology-friendly flexible seating to promote collaborative learning. Georgia United School Crashers 2015 first place winner Woodward Elementary received won the equivalent of a school improvement sweepstakes when they received the top prize earlier this summer.� Georgia United coordinated 300+ community volunteers and corporate donors to work alongside the DeKalb County School System to complete a long list of school improvement projects for the Title 1 School located at 3034 Curtis Drive in Atlanta. The five runner-up schools each receive their grants and project assistance this fall.� The remaining runner-up schools are Kelley Lake Elementary, Brockett Elementary, Laurel Ridge Elementary and Cohutta Elementary.
