CaptureMIDLAND, MICHIGAN, Staff members at Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union raised more than $650 for two local nonprofits through recent "Jeans Day for Charity" fundraisers. For each of the one-day fundraisers throughout the year, participating DCECU employees donate a minimum of $5, which entitles them to wear blue jeans, tennis shoes and logoed attire to work that day. One recent Jeans Day for Charity raised $380 for the Humane Society of Midland County, the nonprofit organization that runs the Humane Society of Midland County Shelter and focuses on the care and adoption of homeless pets in Midland County. The group also runs a Pet Pantry, which provides pet food to local residents during difficult financial times to help them retain their pets and ensure they are fed. Another Jeans Day for Charity collected $285 for Shelterhouse, a nonprofit organization that provides safety, shelter, advocacy and counseling to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Midland and Gladwin counties. The groups mission is to eliminate domestic and sexual violence in the community. "Through their Jeans Days for Charity and other acts of philanthropy and service, our employees show us, time and again, that they are committed to making life better for everyone in our community," said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson.
