CaptureHUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. NuVision Federal Credit Union today announced its annual donation of backpacks filled with school supplies for disadvantaged children in the community as they head back to school. This year, NuVision employees donated and delivered 45 backpacks to the Huntington Beach Youth Shelter. Each backpack was filled with pencils, erasers, binders, notebook paper, crayons, colored pencils, notebooks, pens, folders, a highlighter, and a pencil case. The organization provides shelter, meals, group and family counseling, academic tutoring, life skills development, and more to children between the ages of 11-17. "NuVision believes education is foundational to the success of young people in our community, which is why education-related causes are such a big part of our community outreach," said Attila Morgan, Manager of Community Involvement and Business Development at NuVision. "Our employees donate these backpacks and supplies every year with the hope that each student who receives one will feel both excited and prepared for a great school year." In July 2015, NuVision awarded $10,000 in college scholarships to students across Southern California as part of its annual NuVision Scholarship Program, which the credit union began offering in 2008. NuVision also donated $10,000 to sponsor Summer Science Camp in July 2015 for students in grades 2 through 12 in Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
