United Federal Credit Union Supports Local Impact Fund for Youth

CaptureJOSEPH, Mich. United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) is among this years contributors who are making donations to the Whirlpool Collective Impact Fund to benefit local youth. The fund was established in 2012 to encourage collaborative investments by individuals and organizations for the benefit of the community. Contributions are made by participating in a series of events that take place throughout the year, such as the Whirlpool Community Charity Golf Event. The golf outing provides the entire yearly operating budget for the Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor as well as significant funding for the First Tee of Benton Harbor and three local public schools Benton Harbor, St. Joseph and Lakeshore. "Investing in our young people benefits our community today and tomorrow," said UFCU President/CEO Gary Easterling. "We are blessed to live in a community where partnerships with Whirlpool and others provide our youth with opportunities to develop the skills that lead to success." Since its inception in 2004, the proceeds of the golf outing have provided almost $12 million to these organizations. UFCU and Whirlpool Corporation are long-standing partners. Uniteds origins date back to 1949 when employees of the Nineteen Hundred Corporation formed a credit union.
