Zeal Credit Union Holding Backpack Drive

CaptureLivonia, MI Beginning Friday, July 31, Zeal Credit Union is holding its seventh annual Backpack Drive, which runs through Friday, August 28, 2015. Partnering with Volunteers of America, Zeal Credit Union is collecting new backpacks, folders, notebooks, pens, scissors, pencils and other supplies that will go to needy students throughout Michigan.� Collection boxes are located in the lobbies of each of the credit unions 11 metro Detroit branch offices. The donations will be distributed through Volunteers of America and its Operation Backpack initiative.� Last year, Zeal Credit Union members and staff donated 75 fully- stocked backpacks along with other school supplies.� Additional backpacks and miscellaneous supplies were also donated directly to area school districts following the drive. "As a credit union for hard working Americans, we have a strong commitment to helping others in our community," said Jeremy Cybulski, youth and community development coordinator for Zeal Credit Union.� "These donations will help many needy students be better prepared to succeed in their studies." All backpacks and school supplies for the Backpack Drive must be new items.� Monetary contributions are also welcome. During the month-long drive, Zeal employees looking forward to participating in a School Spirit dress-down day to raise additional funds and generate awareness regarding the drive.
