NuVision Federal Credit Union Awards $10,000 in Scholarships

CaptureHUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. �NuVision Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the local winners of its annual 2015 Scholarship Program.�Ten Southern California students won scholarships worth $1,000 each, and were recognized together with their families at an awards ceremony held at NuVisions Huntington Beach headquarters on July 21, 2015. NuVisions 2015 Scholarship Program recipients are:
  • Emily Truong from Granada Hills, a Sophomore at St. Edwards University studying Biology
  • Antonia Avina from Burbank, a Senior at St. Marys University studying Nursing
  • John Hoyt from Fountain Valley, who graduated from Fountain Valley High School and will be attending Cal State Long Beach to study International Business
  • Janet Slinkard from Huntington Beach, a Sophomore at Golden West College studying Digital Arts
  • Olivia Hankins from Huntington Beach, who graduated from Marina High School and will be attending Northern Arizona University to study Psychology
  • Vivien Mcgrath Lee from Garden Grove, a Junior at Cal State Fullerton studying Human Services
  • Morgan Miller from Costa Mesa, who graduated from Estancia High School and will be attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to study Nutrition
  • Josiah Bereal from Bellflower, who graduated from Mayfair High School and will be attending St. Johns University to study Criminal Justice
  • Michael Larson from Foothill Ranch, a Sophomore at Baylor University studying Mechanical Engineering
  • Corie Capalbo from Huntington Beach, a Senior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University studying Meteorology
"We are excited at NuVision to more than double the size of our annual scholarship program this year, allowing us to recognize even more hard working and deserving students in our community," said Attila Morgan, Manager of Community Involvement and Business Development at NuVision. "We are very proud to support these young adults as they continue to achieve their educational and professional goals." Miss Huntington Beach Claire Epting was in attendance and spoke to the group about her journey as Miss Huntington Beach and how�important a scholarship program can be for young people pursing higher education. Since 2008, NuVision has been providing scholarships to promote educational and career enrichment opportunities within the communities it serves.� Each year, the program is open to any student attending a four-year college or university (public or private), community college, vocational or technical school.
