north star acts of kindness colageNorth Star Community Credit Union completed 75 Acts of Kindness to celebrate their 75th Year! �Below is a summary of the various activities.

1/7/15 - $75 dollars awarded to the 75th person that walked through our doors since the beginning of the year -Grafton Branch

Starting on January 1st, staff kept track of the number of members that visited the branch; the 75th person received $75 in their account. Dollars spent: $75.00 Time spent: 5 Minutes

3/2/15- National Reading Day-Dr. Seuss Birthday-Bottineau Branch

Sue, Trista and Peggy spent an entire morning reading to 20 different classrooms as an Act of Kindness. Dr. Seuss books were read in honor of national reading day to grades pre-k thru 6th. Dollars spent: $0.00 Time spent: 12 hours

3/12/15- Taught a CU vs. Bank class at Kiwanis-Grafton Branch

Nanci attended the monthly Kiwanis meeting and spoke about the various differences between a Credit Union and other financial institutions. She spoke about our involvement in the community as well as our backpack exchange. Kiwanis is now going to support our backpack exchange by helping fund supplies! 4/2/15- Youve been Egged-Maddock & Rugby Branch

As an act of kindness for some of the local kids on Easter, we hid candy filled eggs around their yards. A total of 6 yards were egged in each community.� Each child was given 2 eggs. We taped a sign on the door saying "youve been egged" so that they knew (us) the Easter bunny had been there! We gave about 40 candy filled eggs. Dollars spent: $66.20 Time spent: 8 hours

4/3/15- Flowers upon Request Surprise-Rugby Branch

A team member was asked (by a friend) to pick up an Easter lily for another member, instead of charging the person for the flowers, they were paid for by the CU and an Act of Kindness. Dollars spent: $8.55 Time spent: 15min

04/09/15- Weekly daycare bill paid- Bottineau Branch

We put $25 toward someones weekly daycare bill at Building Blocks Learning Center in Bottineau Dollars spent: $25.00 Time spent: 1 hour

4/23/15- CPR class taught by Valley Ambulance-Grafton Branch

We teamed up with Valley Ambulance and hosted a CPR class right here in our branch as an Act of Kindness. We had a class of ten, which learned proper CPR for adults as well as children. Once completed, they were given their CPR certification cards which we paid for. Dollars spent: $36.00 Time spent: 2 hours

�4/14/15- Pay for gas at the pump-Grafton Branch

NSCCU Grafton branch went to a local gas station and waited for a customer to finish pumping. We went inside and quickly paid $25.00 on their fuel and left an Acts Of Kindness card at the register. Dollars spent: $25.00 Time spent: 5 Minutes

4/23/15- Girls Scouts-Maddock Branch

5 Girl Scouts came into the office for a tour and informational visit. We talked to them about the penny, when it was first made & the different kinds that have been made over the years. We also showed them the coin counter and how fast it could count coins. They were given a small gift that included a NSCCU color changing cup filled with goodies. Dollars Spent: $25.00 Time spent: 2 hours

4-28-15- Food Pantry -Cavalier Branch

Gretta volunteered some time at the Cavalier Food Pantry. She distributed food to families in need, and restocked the shelves when it was slow. Dollars spent: $0 Time spent: 2 hours

4/28/15 & 5/27/15 -Great Plains Food Bank - Maddock Branch

We unloaded a pallet of food from the Great Plains food bank into our local food pantry. The food pantry is open to the public to go in and shop and take what they need. They weigh their food themselves as they check out. The food pantry was created by North Star Community Credit Union in 2008 because of a food drive that was held in the office, the community did not have one that was available to everyone in the community, only those that qualified for social services. Joann Bergrud who is our VP of operations in the Maddock branch is and has been the coordinator since it was opened in 2008.� She will order food from the Great Plains food bank or will just run to the local grocery store and purchase items that are needed. 5 of us unload boxes which took about 30 minutes for this date. Over the years Joann herself has donated hundreds of hours to the community food bank. Dollars spent: $0.00 Time spent: 2.5 hoursminutes

04/30/15- Free Groceries- Cavalier Branch

Danita went to the local grocery store and paid $25 to the next person in line to purchase groceries. She left and Acts of Kindness card at the register. Dollars spent: $25.00 Time spent: 15 mins

04/30/15- Pay for gas at the pump- Cavalier Branch

NSCCU Cavalier branch went to a local gas station and waited for a customer to finish pumping. We went inside and quickly paid $25.00 on their fuel and left an Acts of Kindness card at the register. Dollars spent: $25.00 Time spent: 5 Minutes

4/30/15- Paid toward someones prescription-Cavalier Branch

Leona went to the register at the local pharmacy and told them NSCCU would like to pay $25 toward the next persons prescription. She left the Acts of Kindness card for the next person in line. Dollars spent: $25.00 Time spent: 15 mins

5/1/15-May Day Baskets Maddock, Rugby & Bottineau Branch

May Day baskets were delivered to local nursing home residents. Each branch gave a different basket with little snacks and gifts in it. A total of 82 baskets were delivered to nursing homes between the 3 branches. Dollars spent: $130.00 Time spent:� 8 hours

5/4/15- Teachers Appreciation Day All 5 branches

As an Act of Kindness, teacher appreciation baskets were created in each branch and delivered to the schools in each branch location. Some NSCCU promotional items such as, koozie, air fresheners, lip balm, nail files and chip clips along with snacks and fresh fruit were included in the baskets. Dollars spent: $365.00 Time spent: 8 hours

5/6/15- Taking water and fruit to Firemen working at Heimdal train derailment- Maddock Branch

Working together with the local grocery store Tracys Market, water, Gatorade, bananas and apples were delivered by NSCCU employees to local firemen who had been fighting the fire at the train derailment. Dollars spent: $30.00 Time spent: 2 hours

5/15/15 CUDE Donation in honor of NSCCUs 75 years of service- Grafton Branch

Nanci attended the CUDE class in Madison Wisconsin and in turn donated 75.00 in honor of her place of employment. Dollars spent: 75.00 (personal money) Time spent: 5 Minutes

5/15/15- Flowers for cancer cheer up- Rugby Branch

A member suffering from cancer came through the drive-up. She was very down and several employees suggested ordering her flowers. The flowers were delivered to her along with an Act of Kindness Card to brighten her day. Dollars spent: $34.24 Time spent: 15min.

5-/15/15- National Nursing Home Week -Maddock Branch

We made a box of goodies to take to the local nursing home to show our appreciation to the staff that works there for all of their hard work. The basket included NSCCU promotional items: koozie, pens, lip balm, nail files, hot & cold pack, plus much more. Dollars spent: $40.00 Time spent:� 45 minutes

5/18/15- Community Benefit for a family -Bottineau Branch

As an act of kindness we donated a basket of goodies for a silent auction for a family in need in our community.� Each employee donated items for the basket along with items from NSCCU. Dollars spent: $50.00 Time spent: 1 hour

5/21/15- Paid at Wal-Mart -Bottineau Branch

NSCCU Bottineau branch went to a the local Wal-Mart and paid $21.00 towards their purchase and left an Acts of Kindness card at the register Dollars spent: $21.00 Time spent: 10 minutes

5/26/15- Girl Scout ��Grafton Branch

NSCCU Grafton branch had a Girl Scout troop come in to take a tour of our facilities. We spoke about the different items in the credit union and what they were used for. We ended the tour in the board room where we did a mini class on the dollar bill as well as had them create their own dollar bill. Dollars spent: 0.00 Time spent: 1 Hour
