The Town of Hempstead Employees Federal Credit Union of Baldwin, NY sold "duckies" to help raise money for The Ashley Wade Foundation. With the help of our members and the CU staff at the TOHEFCU we were able to present Ashley with $1000.00 for this great cause. Ashley was diagnosed with Crohns Disease when she was a sophomore in High School. Ashley learned all too quickly having fun came secondary to the rigors of treatments and hospitalizations. After many days in the hospital Ashley saw just how many children suffered from chronic illnesses, just like her. Ashley knows firsthand how hard it is to spend days in the hospital or having to visit the hospital often for treatment. So many children suffer every day and miss out on just being a kid. Watching children suffer from chronic illnesses was so hard for Ashley because she knew exactly how they felt. When Ashely finally started to feel better, she vowed to bring joy to the kids who are battling chronic illnesses, and to give back to her hospital that took such good care of her.
Ashley started the Ashley Wade Foundation in 2012 in an effort to bring to joy the lives of children suffering from chronic illnesses. She has impacted the lives of so many children and their families and we are proud to help her do so.
