Sioux Falls FCU Awards Two Community Service Scholarships

SFFCU Danya-Joey-with-CheckSioux Falls, SD - Brock Bills, Sioux Falls, and Danya Johnson, Baltic, were each recently awarded the $1,000 Community Service Scholarships from Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union. Both will use the funds to help finance their post-high school education this fall. The two winners, who were selected from approximately 40 applicants, had outstanding records of service to their community. Brock is committed to serving his community both through his career path and passion for helping others.� He has participated in the Backpack Program, Sioux Falls Furniture Mission, and provided physical therapy pro bono services to low income patients. Danya has contributed her skills and talents for teaching by helping facilitate a bible school at Horse Creek Indian Reservation. She also shared a rewarding experience teaching underprivileged children a science unit in Belize. "These two young adults are perfect examples of the impact one person can have on improving the lives of others" said Fran Sommerfeld, President/CEO of Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union. "We are extremely proud of both their academic and community service accomplishments and proud to call them member-owners of this cooperative". "Supporting people like this is one of the ways we try to achieve our corporate vision of Helping People Live Better" said Sommerfeld. Bills attends classes at University of South Dakota and Johnson is enrolled at Dakota State University.
