JACKSON, MI American 1 Credit Union recently awarded 15 high school graduates with $1,000 scholarships each for their commitment to community service.
The 2015 American 1 Community Involvement Award winners were:

- Emily Wagler of Jerome
- Hadleigh Buchler of Jackson
- Katlyn Sheeks of Brooklyn
- Holly Hendershot of Pleasant Lake
- Matthew Bundas of Clarklake
- Shannon Wood of Jackson
- Courtney Wolf of Morrice
- Gary Henderson JR of Lansing
- Nathaniel Herrick of Jackson
- Emily Esser of Jackson
- Hunter Thelen of Jackson
- James Darby of Michigan Center
All of the students were highly involved in both extra-curricular activities and their communities while in high school. Each wrote an essay on the benefits of altruism and described how they worked to improve their community through service.
American 1 has rewarded deserving and community-minded high school seniors with $1,000 scholarships since 2000. Scholarships are funded through American 1s skip-a-pay program, which allows members to skip one months loan payment for a donation of $25.
