Ascend Federal Credit union helps raise more than $30K for childrens miracle network
Ascend Federal Credit Union of Tullahoma, Tenn. has helped raise more than $30,000 for a Childrens Miracle Network Hospital in Nashville. Since 2004 the Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt has been serving Middle Tennessee children as a recognized leader in pediatric care. The non-profit childrens hospital, which is part of the Childrens Miracle Network of hospitals, does not deny children care based on a limited ability to pay. Ascend joined other Middle Tennessee credit union sponsors for the 3rd Annual Credit Unions for Kids Childrens Miracle Network Golf Tournament Aug. 24. Thirty-four teams participated in the golf tournament that raised $21,878 for Monroe Carell. Ascend also partnered with Walmart Distribution Center 6062 on Sept. 11 for the 11th Annual Childrens Miracle Network Golf Tournament. Twenty-six teams helped raise more than $10,000. "The kids at Monroe Carell are not strangers," Ascend President and CEO Caren Gabriel said. "They are from our own communities and families, and we were excited to have these opportunities to help them get the care they need here at home." According to the Childrens Miracle Network Web site, credit unions are the third largest annual corporate contributor to Childrens Miracle Network hospitals behind Walmart and Costco.
