Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union Sponsors Students in Essay Contest

CaptureLOWELL Jeanne DArc Credit Union is pleased to announce that three of their sponsored students were selected as award winners in the Massachusetts Credit Union Leagues 2015 Student Essay Contest. Rachel Modeski, an eighth-grade student at St. Michael School in Lowell, was awarded first place (shown in photo, left) . Makayla Boucher, also an eighth-grade student at St. Michael School in Lowell, and Tristan Correia, an eighth-grade student at Richardson Middle School in Dracut, were selected as two of the eight finalists. "We are very proud of all the students who submitted such thoughtful essays," said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne DArc Credit Union. "We are particularly proud of our three students who were honored by the judges with very prestigious awards." A total 1,149 essays were submitted statewide and 216 were received from local schools for the Massachusetts Credit Union Leagues contest, which was open to students in the seventh and eighth grades. Students were asked to respond to the question: "As a young adult, what do you think is the most important lesson credit unions can teach young people about managing their financial lives that will help them as they grow into adults with careers and families?" The winner and finalists were honored at a special Awards Ceremony held at the Statehouse in Boston on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
