Peach State Federal Credit Union Awards Two Scholarships to Local Students

CaptureLawrenceville, GA Peach State Federal Credit Union has awarded two Clarke County high school seniors the Pomeroy Woods Legacy Student Scholarships.� Mariah Sad� Isbell, Clarke Central High School and Xavier Arnold, Cedar Shoals High School will each receive $2,500 to assist with their college education costs. The Pomeroy Woods Scholarships were created in honor of the lifetime achievements of Janet Pomeroy and Pearlie Woods for their commitment and dedication to the credit union and the citizens of Clarke County.� Each year, Peach State awards these scholarships to two Clarke County high school seniors on the basis of financial need, academic credentials and a demonstrated commitment to community service. Mariah Sad� Isbell is a senior at Clarke Central High School, graduating this spring. Described as mature and caring with a strong work ethic, Mariah plans to attend Georgia College and State University to major in Psychology. Contributions to her community include recording books for visually impaired and dyslexic individuals, as well as maintaining numerous positions in academic and recreational clubs and organizations at Clarke Central. Xavier Arnold is in the 2015 graduating senior class at Cedar Shoals High School and is an aspiring industrial engineer. He has laid the groundwork for the future through his membership in Skills USA.� Xavier is also a member of the National Honor Society. According to Xavier, "volunteering has become a cornerstone" in his life, and he spends his spare time volunteering at a local food bank and Relay For Life. The Pomeroy Woods Scholarships were established in 2010 when Clarke Community Federal Credit Union merged with Peach State. "Clarke Community and its founders were dedicated to giving back. These scholarships were put in place to maintain their legacy and recognize their tradition of community service," said Peach State FCU President/CEO, Marshall Boutwell. "We are confident that Mariah and Xavier will continue to honor this tradition through volunteer efforts, and using their education to better themselves as well as their community."
