Georgia United Credit Union Awards $12,500 in Scholarships in 2015

Jasmine Johnson Ola HS Meg Principal Shedd - RevHENRY COUNTY, GA -�Georgia United Credit Union is excited to announce the winners of their 2015 scholarship programs.� A total of $12,500 was awarded and disbursed to thirteen high school seniors through the Vernon E. Carne Scholarship program and the Archbishop John F. Donoghue Catholic Scholarship program. �Thanks to all the high school seniors who entered this years competition as we had an impressive number of excellent entries! This is the 21st year that Georgia United has given the Vernon E. Carne Scholarship and the 8th year for the John F. Donoghue Catholic Scholarship. A total of approximately $155,000 has been awarded to high school seniors during the tenure of both programs.� Recipients are chosen based on an essay competition with consideration given to academic accomplishments, leadership and participation in both school and community activities.� The top winners for 2015 were Samantha Smith of Blessed Trinity High School and Jasmine Johnson of Ola High School; Ryan Kolakowski of Wheeler High School and Marian Bornhorst of Roswell High School, respectively. � Photo Caption: Georgia United Stockbridge Branch Manager Meg Norrell presents Ola High School �Senior Jasmine Johnson a $2,000 Scholarship while Jasmines mom, Winifred Johnson,�and Ola High School Principal David Shedd assist. About Jasmine Johnson � Jasmine is a senior at Ola High School in Henry County and the daughter of Winifred Johnson.� Already accepted at NYU, Jasmine plans on studying Theatre Performance and Communication.� Her high school honors and awards include a 4.11 GPA, membership in the National Honor Society, Drama Club, International Thespian Society, National Beta Club, Writers Guild Club, Editor of School Newspaper, a Student Ambassador and a variety of community service activities.
