Peach State Federal Credit Union Awards $129,500 in Scholarships and Grants

Capture     Lawrenceville, GA Peach State Federal Credit Union announced the winners of its scholarship program, designed to honor the credit unions founders, as well as past and present board members and employees.� Scholarships were also awarded in honor of the lifetime achievements of several notable school system and community leaders.� This year, Peach State awarded $129,500 in scholarships and educational grants.�� The following is a list of the scholarships that were awarded:
  • Sixteen $2,000 Career Advancement Scholarships were awarded to members to assist in their continuing education in honor of the credit unions founders.
  • Lawanda Baker, NDO Head Start
  • Richard Blevins, Gwinnett Medical Center
  • Katrina Clay, Central Gwinnett High School
  • Nichole Coates, DeKalb Watershed Management
  • Lawrence Edon, Walton County School
  • Yvonne Green, DeKalb City
  • Ashley Harris, Alford Elementary School
  • Angel Hightower, Torch & Sword Christ Academy
  • Teresa Hitchcock, Athens Regional Medical Center
  • Jason Hunter, Meadowcreek High School
  • Shaune Lowery, Gwinnett County Public Schools
  • Bobbie Powers, Metro Resa-Hooper Renwick
  • Carrie Settles, Brookwood High School
  • Natina Taylor, Rockbridge Elementary School
  • Tiara Thomas, Gwinnett County Public Schools
  • Suzy Wallin, Bear Creek Middle School
  • Legacy Scholarships were awarded to nine high school seniors who will be attending college to pursue a degree in education and plan to return to Georgia to teach.� These $2,500 scholarships were given in honor of past and present board members and employees who have served Peach State for 20 years or more. Scholarships were awarded to the following students:
  • Kasey Bell, Mountain View High School
  • Allison Davis, Brookwood High School
  • Emmanuel Essilfie, Grayson High School
  • Hailey Hamby, Buford High School
  • Rebecca Kendall, Hebron Christian Academy
  • Anna McLean, Loganville High School
  • Lauren Page, Jefferson High School
  • Emily Pierce, Parkview High School
  • Benjamin Scott, Peachtree Ridge High School
  • Five $2,500 scholarships were awarded in honor of the lifetime achievements of the following school system leaders: Anderson Byers, retired Superintendent of Jackson County School System; Dan Cromer, retired Barrow County School System Superintendent; John Jackson, retired Superintendent of the Oconee County School System; Louise Radloff, member of the Gwinnett County Board of Education; and J. Alvin Wilbanks, CEO and Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools.� Scholarships were awarded to the following students:
  • Anderson Byers | Jessica Stapler, Jackson County High School
  • Dan Cromer | Grayson Mullis, Winder-Barrow High School
  • John Jackson | Fenice Nzengung, Oconee County High School
  • Louise Radloff | Antonio Bailey, Norcross High School
  • Alvin Wilbanks | Natalie Tontillo, North Gwinnett High School
  • Two $2,500 scholarships were awarded in honor of the lifetime achievements of Janet Pomeroy and Pearlie Woods to Clarke County high school graduates on the basis of financial need, academic credentials, and a demonstrated commitment to community service.� The scholarships were awarded to:
  • Xavier Arnold, Cedar Shoals High School
  • Mariah Sade Isbell, Clarke Central High School
  • Additionally, scholarships were underwritten at the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation for $15,000, at Georgia Gwinnett College for $30,000, at Gwinnett Technical College for $10,000 and at the University of North Georgia for $2,500.
