ulphoto1st Financial Federal Credit Union Continued its Helping People 1st Grant program� by volunteering with The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis in April. As part of the vision of "helping our members achieve their financial dreams", 1st Financial created the Helping People 1st Grant to support organizations who are serving the St. Louis community in the areas of housing, financial literacy, job training, or education.� In April, the Hazelwood Branch sponsored the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis. The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis exists to empower individuals throughout the region using community programs in three St. Louis area counties.� The Urban League works to get its clients out of poverty by helping them discover economic opportunity while also providing educational programs and boost community empowerment. The Urban Leagues most recent initiative, the "Save Our Sons" Program, will train up to 500 men in North St. Louis County for the next two years.� This program, which is located in Ferguson, will focus on team building, financial literacy, and job coaching. To support the Urban League and raise donations for their programs, the Hazelwood branch hosted a special lunch and basket raffle during April.� On Saturday, April 25th, 1st Financial employees had a paid volunteer day working with members of the Urban League at the City of St. Louis Treasurers Office 2nd Annual Financial Empowerment and Job Fair at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park campus.� On May 4th, 1st Financial employees presented a check totaling $744.26 to Michael P. McMillan, President and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis. "The Urban League is very grateful for the contributions and new partnership with 1st Financial Federal Credit Union on our Save Our Sons program in St. Louis County, said Michael P. McMillan, president and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis.� "We look forward to making a difference in our community together."
