Leominster MA � After learning that the Johnny Ro Veterans Memorial Park needed financial assistance to keep the lights on, Tony Emerson, President & CEO of IC Federal Credit Union called for a $2500 donation immediately. A veteran himself, Emerson stated, "This Park is named after Johnny Roberge, but as his family will tell you, its a symbol for all lost veterans, and is a reminder of those who gave all for their country. In fact, IC has been looking for ways to help all veterans in our community," said Emerson. "We have been sponsoring monthly breakfasts at the Fitchburg Airport, and will be releasing a special financial bundle called Veterans Salute Suite after Memorial Day to help give our veterans a break on loans, visa card rates, plus special higher CD and savings rates."
The park is undergoing some key renovations including four Field Crosses, one for Johnny Ro and each of his fallen servicemen, a life size bronze statue of Johnny Ro, commissioned to Bob Shure, bronzer, a new sign showing a legend of the park, a bronze plaque dedicated to the 1
st Calvary, as well as other, much needed cosmetic work on the grounds. If you wish to donate, you can mail or bring a check to any IC Federal Credit Union location, or stop by the Veterans Center at 100 West St.
Diane Beaudoin, Park President stated, "A lot of people came to our aid by dropping off donations to me, the Veterans Center on 100 West St., or to John Roberge, Johnnys Dad. We are so humbled and extremely grateful for all the support we have received."
